Yes, I am a Jazzercise success story! (as many instructors are!). I found Jazzercise in 1994. I was 28, and although I had danced extensively in high school and college, I stopped dance when "real life" took over. And guess what? I gained weight!
I had never heard of Jazzercise before, and saw a Jazzercise center near my work in Canton, Michigan. I briefly watched class a few times from outside and I thought "Wow, that looks like fun!" and furthermore, it looked like everyone inside was having a good time.
I couldn't convince anyone I worked with to go with me (you know how we women have to do things in groups!), so I ventured into class alone. I LOVED IT!
It was early November, and I remember thinking "I'll be in shape by Thanksgiving!" Well, obviously, I wasn't ... but six months later I WAS losing weight and trimming down. Within a year I had lost 20-25 pounds, and was buying new (smaller) clothes.
Best of all, I felt the joy of movement again, and began to re-appreciate my body.
Oh ... have I ever gained those 20-25 pounds back? NOPE!! |
